Why can’t I delete apps off of my iPad

I downloaded some apps and I don’t need them anymore and when I try to delete them all it says is; edit Home Screen, share app, remove app. When I press remove app it says remove from Home Screen, and cancel. No delete button. I have have messed all over the settings and I can’t figure it out.

iPad, iPadOS 17

  • Do you have any profiles set up at Settings > General > VPN & Device Management. There should be none unless a profile was installed by your school.
  • Force restart your iPad and try again. If you have an iPad without the Home button, it may take a couple of attempts to get the key sequence correct and the last step of holding the side button until the Apple Logo appears could take up to 20 seconds. Ignore anything else that appears on the screen until the Apple Logo appears. Force restart iPad - Apple Support
  • If still no luck, I would recommend doing the Reset All Settings option. This does not affect device data, but will reset Wifi passwords and locations settings. You will not want to do Erase All Content option as that one will wipe your iPad. Review the Support Article:
