Cant use Java Environment to open a .Jar

Hi. I am trying to run a programme called Heroscribe on my Mac. I have downloaded what I believe to be the correct Java file, but every-time I try to open the .jar file it says ' Java Application launch failed...Check console for possible error messages related to "/Users/xxxxxx/Desktop/HeroScribe.jar". Do you have any suggestions?

Java Application Launch Fail Hello, I am trying to launch a .jar file on my macbook (macOS Monterey 12.7.6) with JavaLauncher. I have always been able to launch this application, but after updating Java with Version 8 Update 441 I get an error. The error says, "Java Application launch failed. Check console for possible error messages related to "/Users/Diana_A/Desktop/obs_20250120/obs_20250120.jar". I can't find any errors. Based on the advice of other threads, I tried opening the file directly from the terminal using "java -jar/Users/Diana_A/Desktop/obs_20250120/obs_20250120.jar". It used to work for mine as well, but I am not receiving these errors and not sure how to troubleshoot. . Any advice would help!

Cannot run Intel app on my M1 MacBook I have been trying to get an Intel application, downloaded from the internet, to run on my M1 MacBook. Unfortunately I keep getting the error: "The application "cMv_v0.8_MacOS" can't be opened". Rosetta is installed and working as I am able to open other Intel applications such as Google Earth Pro. I took the following steps to download the application: Downloaded a zipfile from: https://zenodo.org/records/4031812 Unzipped the MacOS download which showed the application Moved the application to my application folder in Finder Does anyone know why this application won't run on my MacBook?

Java is no longer preinstalled on macOS and even if it is, there are likely security patches or new capabilities you need for software to work properly. And if you are a developer, you will most likely need to install and manage multiple versions of Java (as well as other development runtimes).
