Duracell 2023 Batteries Don't work with Apple AirTags

Found I couldn't use the most respected Duracell batteries in my AirTag. Eventually figured these coin-cell batteries are coated with a bitter taste so children will spit the battery out if they try to swallow it.

Solution is to wash the bitter taste coating off as it clearly insulates the battery. I use water and a kitchen sponge abrasive, which works in seconds. Suggest you wash your hands in case the bitter taste compound gets on your fingers.

Duracell do not provide any advice that the batteries must have the bitter taste compound removed in order to use their batteries. How stupid is that. Maybe they think 2 year olds could read this :-(

I'm sure that Duracell is just trying to comply with the laws/mandates/suggestions/shaming/etc. to have their batteries coated. They have no control over what electronic devices that can use them ... or be affected by them.

For Apple, they have clearly stated that using batteries with bitterant coatings may affect the operation of their AirTags. Not sure if other tag manufacturers are having the same issue using these batteries.

Numerous "solutions" have already been posted here and on the Internet, including washing them as you suggested ... so this is generally a known issue. Thank you for posting your solution.
