How to transfer all files to iCloud and free up storage space on my MacBook

I am getting popup that your storage is full at my Mac but my icloud got more than 1TB free.How do I keep all my documents from Mac to icloud and want to keep my mac totally free?? Facing huge problem now.Everyday the outlook is going offline.How do I solve??

Anything in iCloud is also synced to your Mac. You can elect to optimize storage on your Mac which will offload some content to iCloud only. But, if your Mac is say 500GB and you have 1 TB of documents in iCloud, you'll be perpetually syncing and filling your Mac. You may wish to move files to an external hard drive instead and back that up to a second drive using Time Machine.
