Sounds like you have a bad charger. You should stop using it immediately since it may be a safety issue. You may want to have Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider examine the power adapter, cable, and laptop to confirm the problem is actually the power adapter.


Many times I find the Duckhead adapter to become damaged which could cause arcing. This is usually seen by a blackened or charred area around the prongs (look in the recessed area where the prongs pivot/rotate).
