Your phone has not been compromised. The Face ID data is locked in the Secure Enclave of your device and even Apple cannot access that data. They were obviously trying to scare you. If they were really trying to steal your Face ID data, do you think that they would be telling you that by saying they are scanning your Face?

Thank you. I saw the article about face scaming as well. https://www.theregister.com/AMP/2024/02/15/cybercriminals_stealing_face_id/
but it appears to be something a bit different.
The headline was used to gain clicks. After reading the article it does not do what it claims from the headline. The apps on the iPhone do not even get the Face ID data. When an app wants to use Face ID, it tells the system to authenticate with Face ID and the app will only get a response that it had failed or been accepted. The app does not scan your face, it is all handled securely by the system. The article was talking about facial data used by banks in Thailand to compromise those accounts, it had nothing to do with bypassing Face ID on your device.
What makes you think Face ID is compromised?

Then I read this: Cybercriminals are targeting iOS users with malware that steals face scans from the users of Apple devices to break into and pilfer money from bank accounts
