Redeemed Apple gift card

About March 30, 2024 I had purchased a gift card for $300 and Apple gift card. I sent that gift card to the person who needed it. About two hours later I’ll get this email stating the card

has been redeemed already. As says that’s impossible, because I just bought that card and I’m the one that scratched it. They kept insinuating that it was redeemed. I didn’t believe so. I got on , and I looked, and it says it’s been redeemed. My question is how do you find out when and where it was redeemed

iPhone 14 Pro Max, iOS 17

If you can't redeem your Apple Gift Card or App Store & iTunes Gift Card - Apple Support

In the future, never purchase gift cards from a retail location that displays them open to the public. Those grey scratch off stickers are sold on Amazon. Scammers grab a bunch of the Gift Cards on those racks and copy down the codes. After applying a new sticker and returning them to the rack, they just have to wait for you to activate them. The retailers know about this scam, but some refuse to protect their customers, even though they will lock up products in the store to prevent theft that will cost them money.

Do you personally know the person that needed it? This is the start of a very common scam.

“Known as the "hey grandma scam" or "grandparent scam," con artists are tricking people into giving them money by posing as their relatives pleading for funds over the phone, CBS News reports. Scammers are making more than $10,000 a day by duping folks into thinking they're speaking to a relative who was just arrested and needs money for bail and lawyers or other emergency assistance.
