Help with Canon MP280 Sonoma

I have a Canon MP280 printer and scanner and I can't get the scanner part of it work with my Macbook. The printer will work but not the scanner. I've downloaded the updated drivers from the Canon site, restarted everything, removed and reinstalled the printer in system setting, nothing seems to work. Can anyone help?

I'm running the Sonoma OS 14.3.1 and am worried it's not compatible.

Hi,

Did you also install the ICA Driver Ver. 5.0.0 (Mac)?

https://www.canon-europe.com/support/consumer/products/printers/pixma/mp-series/pixma-mp280.html?type=drivers&detailId=tcm:13-2215086&os=macOS%2014%20(Sonoma)&language=en&productTcmUri=tcm:13-780633

Anything of interest under Precaution?

Has Apple's Image Capture been tested?

If nothing else works, MP280 scanning appears to be supported by this third-party paid product (trial version available):

According to the Canon support site, this printer has been retired and Canon is no longer supporting it or providing updated drivers.

The last driver update came out in November of last year, which should support macOS Sonoma ... but, whether or not, it will support all of this printer's feature, I have no way to verify that for you.

The Apple printing system relies on CUPS ... so does this driver.

Thank you both! I actually didn't realize my OS was slightly outdated so I did that update. But what fixed it was the ICA Driver! As soon as I installed that, Image Capture suddenly was able to 'see' my device, it up showed up and I could manually scan through that. Thank you both for the help, I really appreciate it!
