How to get rid of unwanted pop-up on my iMac? Hi there Apple community, I love my iMac with 3 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5, 8 GB, Radeon Pro Graphics 570X. It is running macOSSonoma 14.6.1. It is about 3 years old. Lately I have been getting strange popups that look very similar to the date reminder boxes/curved corner banner announcements , but offer emoji filled warnings of "critical viruses" in a different language (the language of the country I live in) though my iMac's language is English. This is suspicious imo. Since these pop ups (multiple times a day) have been happening, my iMac appears to be slower to respond overall. Everything in my dock is super sleepy and takes time to respond - often with the SBBOD or a crash. Occasionally I have to force quit one or two apps. I value the wisdom of this community & have read past threads. I restart it weekly now. Sometimes there is a grey screen (!!)which resolves by itself (so far) - to my great relief. I also checked what apps begin at Login and which run in the background. They are more or less what I expected - nothing I recognise to be weird. In past threads some things sounded familiar and I think I may have picked up something viral ? affecting my Mac's behaviour. Could anyone suggest a step by step way how I can get rid of these unwanted (and I suspect potentially damaging) pop-ups, and get my Mac back to full health without third party purchased apps?
