Optimising iPhone storage.

Hey all,

I have tried searching for the answer but all questions just said turn optimising on which I have done but it didn’t help.

I pay for 2tb cloud storage but my phone is still constantly telling me that I have no storage space.

I understand that buying the cloud storage does not increase the size of the storage on my phone, however, my phone storage is filled with 92gb of photos even though I have turned on ‘optimise iPhone storage’ on the cloud settings.

On my iCloud storage settings it shows as 810gb used as photo storage.

What else can I do? My phone will no longer take any new pictures. My 2tb is NOT anywhere near full and I don’t know how to decrease the number of photos stored on my phone to free up room. It’s mostly videos of my kids that take up the space I think.

I just want to move the photos over onto my cloud to free phone space.

Thanks :)

If you can't take a picture on your phone that is an indication that you're internal memory is low.

Settings - general - iphone storage - offload/delete unused apps, or any other data that you don't need.

You are confusing iCloud Storage with the physical storage on your phone. iCloud Storage by your own admission at the top does make make more space on your phone. If your phone is running out of memory, the ONLY solution is to delete things you don't need or use. And if photos are eating all your space, you need to move your photos to another storage medium, such as Google photos as recommended above. You likely didn't need a 2tb iCloud Storage plan.

The next time you buy an iPhone, you need to buy one with more memory as clearly the one you own doesn't meet your storage needs.
