My browser is set to Safari but Google presents the search results

When I use the Safari browser the search is presented by Google. When I try to reset my default browser, only Safari is presented in the list, however, I have other browsers available and want to set DuckDuckGo as my default. It seems Google has hijacked Safari?

Please help me set my new default browser

Google is a search engine, not a browser, they are different things. You can use Safari as your web browser and Google as your search Engine. You cannot use Safari as a a Search Engine.

You can change the Search Engine used in Safari by going to The Safari Menu ➜ Settings ➜ Search and selecting a Search engine form the drop down there.
