iCloud Photo duplication
I am running macOS Monterey. I was able to run a program provided by apple to find and delete duplicates. I can’t find that on this version, why?
Earlier Mac models

Duplicate detection was introduced to Photos with Ventura. Apple has not had another duplicate detection system to work with Photos or otherwise.
Before Ventura, ,to deal with duplicates, many people used the 3rd party app, PowerPhotos ($30), one of the very few apps that we can trust to work properly with Photos. I still use it sometimes-- different algorithms give slightly different results, and it's useful to double check. If you must stick with Monterey, then PowerPhotos (which has been trusted for 20 years) adds great utility for Photos.

Ventura (macOS 13) was the OS after Monterey (macOS 12.) No "taking away," only adding. Since your post indicated you have an earlier Mac model, I inferred that you are not able to upgrade to Ventura or Sonoma (macOS 14).
So they giveth and then they taketh away…why?
I don’t often think of not upgrading my operating system, but if I had known that this feature was taken away, I would have considered not upgrading. I shouldn’t have to pay for a program that my computer already provided. Any insights?
