Do you have to subscribe to Apple Music for songs to be played through Bluetooth?

I recently bought a new laptop which I transferred all my old ITunes music to. I thought I would try Apple Music so I loaded the program on the new laptop. It took all my music from ITunes and put them in the Apple Music program.

When I play audio from my laptop to my home stereo through Bluetooth I get everything except my music to work. Do I have to have a subscription in order for this to work?

No. A subscription to Apple Music is not necessary to use Bluetooth to play your own music.

You should be pairing your PC via Bluetooth to whatever device will be outputting the audio, and then the Music App would just play the audio through there.

There is no special bluetooth option within the Apple Music app. That would be a system level setting to reroute the audio.

Check the Sound settings in Windows to make sure its set to your bluetooth device and not the computer's internla speakers.

Thank you for the reply.

I was sitting here trying to figure this out when suddenly my Eddie Money song "One More Soldier Coming Home" starting playing on my stereo system. This is the only file in my library that plays a video with the music.

This is a description of the file type: M4V File (.m4v).

So, why would this play but not my music only? I think I'm getting closer but this is still over my head.

Your advice is greatly appreciated.

So what exactly happens when you try to play a song?

Does it start playing but nothing is heard? Do you see the progress indicator for the song?

Or does it simply not start?

What happens if you change the audio output for windows to your computers speaker?

When I play my music on the laptop it uses the speaker in the laptop to play fine. My home stereo is recognized in the bluetooth settings on my laptop. Only my music files will not play through the bluetooth onto my stereo. Everything else is coming through fine including the music video and other computer sounds

It's like there is a block on the music audio files going through the bluetooth.

Got it!!!!!!

I found a way to reset my home stereo and that seemed to do the trick. Not sure how but it's working now.
