I have a new MacBook Air M3. Can not get Word to open. I checked on line for a fix, but you have to be able to go into Word to do them. Every time I try to open Word it closes immediately with an error message.

What's the exact error message?
If you upgraded your Mac and then migrated your data, Word likely thinks you have a new computer, which you do, and the app needs to be reactivated.
If you have the situation whereby you are trying to use an old 32 bit version of Word on a new, or newer, 64 bit machine, you'll need to buy the 64 bit version of Word/Office.
