battery draining even when its not in use

I literally just charged my phone to a hundred and like some 30 minutes later it's 99%. I just pick it up a few moments later then it's 98%. I have turned on low power mode and turned background app usage but still no change. I have seen that when I go to the battery settings it tells me that my iPhone has been used more than usual since upgrading iOS, which may affect battery life. So what does this mean and will my battery go back to normal.

There is no such thing as “not in use”. As long as any smartphone is powered on it is doing stuff. Even just keeping the phone ready for you to open it by swiping up uses energy. Notifications use energy. Receiving email uses energy. Receiving texts uses energy. Updating the current weather uses energy. Just staying connected to the cellular network uses energy, and likewise, being connected to Wi-Fi uses energy.
