Trying to avoid high data charges from my main spectrum carrier while maintaining all web, text and calling options with main phone number.
Is it as simple as to load 2nd esim , allow data switching, and turn off cellular data on the spectrum esim?

You won't be able to add a second eSIM unless the phone has been unlocked by Spectrum.
What do you see on your phone if you check Settings > General > About > Carrier Lock?
Good news. Should be fine as long as the 2nd carrier supports eSIM.
Good idea to verify that your phone will not then be locked to the 2nd carrier.

Sound like I should be good loading the 2nd sim.
