It is always difficult or rather impossible to transfer photos from iphone to mac using usb or air drop , i m trying to transfer my trip photos around 800 photos/vidoes , patiently tried for 2 hours different options, ultimately moved to windows and did the copy to my drive.any other paid apps or tricks?

Not my experience at all. If you are connecting the iPhone to your iMac using a cable, it only takes a few clicks to initiate the transfer any new photos on your phone over to the iMac.
Open Photos on the iMac
Click on the name of your phone on the left panel
Click Import All New Photos
Now any new photos on your iPhone will be copied over to the Photos image Library on your iMac
I’ve had no issues transferring using Photos app and USB to import (details), but another option is iCloud Photos, where the iPhone will upload new photos to iCloud as networking and available storage allows.
Any add-on anti-malware apps, add-on security apps, add-on VPN apps, add-on firewalls, add-on cleaners, or such apps installed in that Mac? If so, remove all that per the vendors’ instructions, restart, and try again.
