How to export Apple Health Data to Excel compatible file or other USABLE format. XML does NOT Work

I export my blood pressure data from a separate app with no problem to the Apple Health app. I can see the results on my iphone in the Health app, fantastic. Now, I want to export into an Excel file. My external app exports to.csv just fine, however, I lost a year's worth of data when it upgraded itself. Fortunately, I had exported to Apple Health app... so great, lets export! Nope. Now the issues and angst begin.

Issues:

  • I see no way to selectively export BP data, or electro cardiogram, etc. SO one has to export all data.
  • Exporting all data yields a bunch of files in different formats on my Mac, once unzipped. Interestingly, Electrocardio is in .csv. (But it appears to be raw data, but that is another issue) and Workout Routes is in.gpx.... whatever that is.
  • I assume that the blood pressure data is in one of the the exported .xml files. Great.
  • These files will NOT open in Excel, Word or anything I have on my Mac. Same issue as people reported in a thread at least a year ago. This is absurd.

No, I am not interested in sharing the raw data to my Doctor's "system". Yes, I have the latest MS products, yes I am on the latest Mac OS, etc etc Tier 1 questions.

I just want data exported to a usable format for a spreadsheet, that I can manipulate and chart, AND not make it have to be weekend project to try and figure it out. Very simple ask. Why is this so friggin hard????? Is it my user ignorance?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

My external app (MedMHealth) is the one listed as compatible with my blood pressure monitor Oxiline pressure X Pro, and is what sucks the data realtime every time I take a reading.

So, I tried an import of my data to MedMHealth from Apple Health. Well, that requires purchasing the new Premium subscription.... of course it does.

Luckily they have a "trial" of the premium version, so I signed up and was able to get all of my data back into the MedMHealth from Apple Health. Exported it to .csv file, made a chart in Excel and we are good to go for my Dr. appointment.

Still doesn't resolve the AppleHealth export idiocy. But I have what I need for now.

Thanks a lot 6x6 for this suggestion. So far unsuccessful after repeated attempts. Keeps stalling/freezing Excel, have to exit via Force Quit. And if you look through this Microsoft doc, it basically entails tech savant setup and skills to get this going. I have been trying the other options in this doc, but no luck so far.

I cannot fathom the "wisdom" of Apple developers on this one. Absolutely mind blowing. Yet, as I mentioned, the "electrocardio" data is in .csv. WTF

At this point I think I might have to type the data in manually. It is ruining my chill weekend and I have my DR appointment early next week!
