my MacBook Air M1 trackpad is blocked, won't react to any of my finger moves. frozen! how can this be solved once and for all? Yes I have restarted the lap top several times and it continues to happen. Should I just dump it?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 14.4

Does your trackpad respond to physical presses, and it's just gestures that aren't working?

To rule out any third party software interference, I'd suggest restarting it in Safe Mode and see if anything changes: Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support

(Let it run in Safe Mode for 3-5 minutes to allow Safe Mode to clear out caches and repair minor storage issues).
