Hulu scam

Hello,

I can't believe I was so stupid falling for this. I had to reboot my firestick so when I tried to access Hulu, I had to log in again. I tried logging in using the tv code but it would not work. I tried logging in using my email and password but it did not work either although it worked on my iphone. So I tried to use the TV code again and entered the code but then the next page said I had to call tech support so I did.

It should have been a red flag when they asked me if they can have remote access as I had to take a picture of my tv screen to see the code. I paused for a second and told them I didn't want to give them access to my phone. I was reassured that they will only see the current screen and was asked to download the rescue mobile app. I'm the most skeptical person but somehow the person was convincing so I did and then connected me to a "senior" tech.

Apparently, they could see access from Ohio and NJ that's why they blocked my account and was going to take care of that. Then he asked for my age. I said what do you need to know my age? What does my age have to do with it? He then said they need it just to process the fraudulent use of my account. I should have disconnected the remote access by then and hung up but stupid me did not.

He asked if this is a new problem. I told him about rebooting the firestick and then this happened.

He then asked if i use the same email address to other accounts like Disney plus, ESPN, Best buy, walmart, etc etc as they are partnered with them. I then said, why, are you going to have to reset all my passwords? He said no. I lied and said no. He said are you sure? Are you just afraid to tell me as you don't trust us? I said, I am not so sure. I stopped the remote access by that time. Then he said I can google the service and call them back once I'm comfortable and then they can help me. That's when everything sanked in and kicked myself for giving then remote access. I then went back to Hulu and at that time, I could access it again using my email and password.

I deleted the rescue mobile app right away and then changed my passwords to my bank accounts and cc. Changed my apple ID password, iphone password and downloaded the most recent software.

I am so scared and anxious since I got off the phone. I have never felt so stupid for falling for this being such a skeptical person.

What is the likelihood that they've stolen information from my phone and that they still have remote access to my phone?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

It's a legitimate app, and I'm betting that you need to send them a new code each time they log in. They can't just log in any time they want, even if you still had the app installed without a new generated code you would have to send them. So removing the app and not sending them a login code they won't be able to remote in.

As long as you change all your passwords, you should be safe.

They didn't have remote access all the time, just when you gave them the login code. You have taken steps to prevent this now.

I don't want to give you a false sense of security, they can't do anything from now on, it just depends on how much data they got before you changed your passwords.

I would keep a close eye on your bank account as well as any other accounts you gave them passwords to for a few months.
