Copy photos gps location from iphone/ipad

On iphone or ipad, inside photos, you can view the location of where photo was taken in the information.

When doing a long "click", it offers to copy the location but not a paste-able text.

Is there a way either with photos app, either a different app (ideally free), to copy the gps coordinates (decimal or deg) of a picture in text format, so it can be pasted as text or used in other apps, maps or others?

For now, my workaround is downloading pictures on a computer and using exiftool to extract gps position.

Thanks

Note: IOS 17.4

Try the following: It is working on my iPhone 15 pro Max with iOS 17.

You can get a paste-able text, when you view the location Maps, not in Photos - the Maps.app can copy paste-able text.

  • View the photo in Photos enlarged and swipe up to see the Info of the photo and the tiny map with the location.
  • Tap the blue name of the place below the map to show the photo in Maps.
  • When the Map opens with the location selected, the place will be highlighted.
  • Swipe up to see the place name and the geographic coordinates.
  • Here you can select and copy either the coordinates or the name of the place. Hold down on the coordinates until you see "copy".

If this does not work, use the Share menu in Maps to send the location to yourself in an email. Then try to open it in Maps from Mail.

Or make a screenshot of the Info of the photo. When you save the screenshot to Photos, you can select the text in the photo and paste it everywhere. This will work in any system version that supports Live -Text. You may have to wait a while, until the screenshot has been scanned for text.

Very clever. I tested this on the latest iPadOS and then read the AirDropped edited image's location with exiftool on the Mac. When pasting a numeric GPS, and then choosing the verbal geolocation, the exact numeric GPS is inserted (seems to work also on rural Argentina pampa where the geolocation is "Q8316", or "Antarctica"). But I still prefer to do this on a computer :-)
