Restoring the Problem one just factory reset away from

If I restore a new phone/device from an iCloud backup is it possible to bring back malware or any sort of system malignancies a user may have caused to a prior device?

iPhone: Why have to restore from iCloud after every update? When an update is pushed to my iPhone, I am unable to simply install. I must plug into my MacBook Pro for the update to initiate. Upon initiation, my iPhone reverts back to factory settings and I must completely restore from my last iCloud backup. Questions Shouldn't I be able to simply update my iPhone without having to plug into an actual laptop? Is this issue due to a virus? If so, does updating from iCloud just perpetuate the virus? Thank you for any expertise you can share.

There is no Malware that will give you problems with your iPhone. Restoring from iCloud backup will restore the iPhone exactly how it was when it was backed up.
