Cannot Add Music to Apple Watch Ultra

Cannot Add Music to Apple Watch Ultra, either by the “by the phone” method or “by the watch” method. Both watch and iPhone are running latest versions of the software as of this posting.


I have done all of the following:

1. I subscribe to Apple Music

2. Unpaired and repaired watch

3. Watch is charging and phone nearby

4. I created a playlist with just one song to try

5. Tried both with playlist downloaded to phone and not

6. Toggled some of the WiFi and BT on/off suggestions but cannot remember which


It does not ever download “Recent Music” although it don’t think I want that.


Here are the steps I follow from on iPhone under Music:

1. Add Music

2. Choose Playlists

3. Navigate to playlist and select

4. Hit the little + at the top

5. It returns to the main screen with the playlist shown and a little orange rotating icon

6. Then the playlist just disappears after about 10 seconds.

Same. I can add music from store directly to watch, but cannot add music from phone.

Same problem on an Ultra 2, I add the PlayList which contains only music in my Library and although it's added to the display in the Watch App on the phone, the music doesn't work on the Ultra 2. I don't have Apple Music, but this shouldn't be requirement as all my music was purchased through apple iTunes and is legally mine to use.
