If you are referring to Apple's Find My application, there are reasons why an iOS device will display as "Offline":

  • The battery has run down
  • The phone was powered off
  • The phone does not have an Internet connection where it is currently located

It is also important to remember that iPhone thieves are very fond of placing a stolen phone in a special type of bag that will not allow the phone to either send or receive a signal. So, everything might be "normal" on the phone, but it will display as "Offline" when you look for it using Find My.

Unfortunately, there is not really anything that you can do when a phone is "Offline" other than keep checking a few times each day to see if the status of the phone might have changed.

Be very careful if you receive an email or message from "Apple" or "Apple Service" indicating that your phone has been found.....and you just need to provide a bit more information to verify your identity so the phone can be returned to you.

Apple will never send a message like this. These are scam messages that are trying to trick you into revealing your Apple ID and Apple ID password so the bad buys can get into your phone.
