Macbook pro pointer making circles when I flip the screen open

Starting yesterday, my Macbook pro pointer or trackpad is acting crazy. It's just making non stop circles on my screen so I can't get it to stop to click on anything. I can move it around but it's just making circles the whole time. This is a Macbook Pro M3 with Sonoma Version 14.4.1 (23E224). The only change that I made was recently updating the OS. This Macbook is only 6 months old.

The only way I can get it to stop is to hold down the power button and force a restart. Anyone heard of this?
