I am unable to burn a CD/DVD on MacBook with my existing Admin user.
I have a 2022 MacBook Air running Sonoma 14.4.1, and I can't write to a writable CD. I haven't needed to try to write to a DVD. I can read music CDs to add to the Music app at will, but I can't burn a CD.
I found the following from 2022 postings:
What to Try:
A. Verify the connection
Is there a Drive Even Seen?:
To Find Out:
- Go to: Apple menu
- Select: About this Mac
- Click: System Report... button
- View: Hardware on left-column
- Click: Disc Burning
- Confirm if a Superdrive is Even Seen
B. Try Using a New Administrator User:
See what happens when you create a new Administrator User and login to it and perform and eject. If it works, then it is something misconfigured in your current user.
I did those six steps, and yes, both the SuperDrive I bought in 2022 is confirmed as is an LG writer that a friend lent me a few days ago. Then, I did B, creating a new admin user. Under this temp admin account, I can burn a CD.
So what is misconfigured in my usual admin account, and how do I fix it?
