Opened text with photo from unknown source

I opened a text from an unknown source to block the number - before I could complete that, a photo followed. I blocked the number, deleted the text/photo and reported the number.

Is there more chance of getting a virus or whatever when there is a photo in a text? Should I have just deleted the text and not worried about blocking the number? What's the best course of action for texts believed to be a scam of some sort?

Spam text messages on iPhone claiming unauthorized access Is there any way to stop the text messages I get every day, anywhere up to six a day, saying that there is something wrong with my phone and I need to click a link to fix it? Fake Full-Screen Message Notification Does any one else get fake messages like a "flash SMS" that takes over your whole screen? They do not wind up showing in the Messages App, and I have not been able to grab a screenshot yet. I get them every day or 2. There's a place at the bottom that says "Why am I getting this message" but I'm afraid to click it for someone to steal my info. Any thoughts?
