Turning off find my ipad

Is it usual to have to turn off find my iPad before sending it off for repair?

Yes. You must turn-off Find My when returning an iPad for repair - as otherwise the iPad will not be accepted for repair.


For practical purposes, in lieu of repairing and returning your own iPad, Apple usually exchange the iPad for a renewed/refurbished iPad of the same model and specification. Your own iPad is eventually repaired/refurbished - and added to the pool of available devices. The exchange process is much quicker than waiting for your own device to be repaired - which, may take considerable time.


The cost of the exchange is the same as would otherwise be charged for repair.


For devices that are repaired and returned to the owner, some test procedures require the device to be fully unlocked.
