I am unable to print from my new MacBook Air to my Epson WF 3620 printer

Have used Epson wf 3620 printer for years. Not long ago (on an older MacBook Pro), queue defaulted to pause mode. Five days ago, got a new MackBook Air. All Epson printer package, except firmware will download. Mac won't download the "fix" (recommended for Epson printer firmware version CC17J4+) Now what? I can't work without my printer. I don't want to hurt my Mac by changing/forcing it to download at the privacy & security settings. Is that the only way??? Thank you for your help.

I don't want to hurt my Mac by changing/forcing it to download at the privacy & security settings.

FW_CC17J4.dmg (10/07/19) is linked on the same host (server) as the other printer software, and is in .dmg just like the other software. Not sure why one file would not download like the rest (or is this about opening after downloading?). I would assume it as safe to download. If this happened for the first file that you downloaded, then the same settings may apply to consecutive downloads. Then trying again wouldn’t give the notification anymore. You can set Safari back to Ask or Deny afterwards, if you want.

Safari Settings:

Separate from browser settings, DiskImageMounter may bark at some files, because maybe it wasn’t saved with the correct certificate, or maybe the certificate has expired (valid from date x to y), or maybe it wasn’t configured as belonging to a known developer. That doesn’t mean the file is bad per se, but just that it can’t be verified. But do report it to Epson, so that they can fix this, if they’re so inclined.

Urquhart1244, Thank you for your prompt reply!

Tried many times w/recommended "fixes". Something else was arye. Dialed up "phone" apple support. Got an extremely patient rep. Tried the same things I tired, approaching them differently. Crazy enough, what worked took a long time of trial and error... BUT worked. For my dilemma, 1. Performed two recommended Epson download items for my MacOS 14.x : "Printer driver", then the "Scanner Utility". NOTE: "suggested" Epson Firmware was NOT needed. 2. Had to factory reset the printer (Clear all data & settings). 3. Reinstall the printer with the wifi setup. 4. Back to Mac/apple menu/System Settings/Printers & Scanners. REMOVED printer. ADDED the printer (yet again). 5. Did a test printing. Hearing that printer was music to my ears. I'm up and running... and can work/write! I'm not sure if this will help anyone else. I'm thankful ALL support people have been kind and available. You never know what will help. ––– Vignettes24
