iPad Pro 9.7” Magic Keyboard not being recognised

This was a brilliant setup when I first got it, because I can type properly on a proper keyboard. Now, 99% of the time it’s just a fancy case, annoyingly telling me the ‘accessory is not supported’ on a regular basis.

Question is, is it more likely to be a problem with the keyboard, or the iPad? And if I source a used part to replace it with, is that likely to fail at some point too?

I’ve tried cleaning the contacts, re-starting, updating etc etc.

just typed all that on the screen…slowly!

TIA

See >>> If you see an ‘Accessory may not be supported’ alert - Apple Support

If you are using a Smart (folio) or Magic keyboard, the alert is typical of a faulty keyboard. The electrical connections that pass through the flexible fabric hinges typically fracture - this usually resulting in errors and/or the on-screen notification that you see.  This issue is more common with older keyboards - simply because they have been opened and closed many thousands of times over their lifetime.

The Smart folio keyboard itself is not repairable. The only remedy is replacement of the keyboard.
