So earlier i was on a facetime call with my friends when they said they couldn’t hear me anymore. Restarted my device and called back and still couldn’t hear me. i tried to record a video and you couldn’t hear me either but when i connected my headphones you can hear me

If you take the phone to an Apple Genius Bar to be repaired, they will diagnose it at no charge. They will not charge you anything unless you agree to the repair so really, there's no way to "get messed over".
Apple will likely not repair your phone, they will replace the phone with a similar condition refurbished phone.
You won't know the exact details until you take the phone in.
