Apple pay failure on phone only after being asked to update informatiom

I have a peculiar issue. I was asked by apple to update my apple pay method. My card expired in jan but i have used it lots since then and all my cards updated automatically on apple pay when i got my new cards. It asked me to do this because it said there was an issue with the card and couldnt process the fee for my icloud storage. So i deleted it and re-entered the info. It then worked.


Since then, my card has declined at all stored except one on apple pay with my phone. BUT my apple pay on my watch with the same card DOES work. At every store. Even the ones my phone doesnt work for. It does the beep and the checkmark then declines. Then i use my watch or my physical card and it works.


Anybody had this issue before? What the heck.

You have two accounts that can store credit/debit cards, Apple Wallet and Apple ID Account. Apple Wallet is for use with Apple Pay at merchants that accept Apple Pay. Apple ID Account is for purchases of Apple products and services.


Generally, cards in Apple Wallet are automatically updated by the issuing bank and the user doesn’t have to do anything. Apple ID Account generally is updated by the account holder.


Are both accounts updated or just one? If just one, which one is updated?

OK, Apple ID Account is working.


We need to troubleshoot your Apple Wallet issue.


What model iPhone and what iOS version is it on?


What is the error when you use Apple Pay in store? Do you see decline or what on transaction terminal? Does your iPhone have a case and if so, have you tried a transaction without the case?


If you follow this path,


iPhone > Settings app > General > About > SEID > do you see a number?
