My current iphone is broken. If I temporarily use an iphone 5 se or iphone 6s, would the location still work? Could I switch locations between phones just fine?

Each iPhone (or iPad, etc) will display its location. You can have 2 or more devices linked to your Apple ID and see all of them when you go to www.icloud.com/find or use the Find My app.
It is easier to tell which iPhone or other device is which if you give them each a different name in Settings > General > About > Name on each device.
