iPad & PowerPoint documents

Dear iPad-ers!

I am considering doing a PowerPoint presentation via iPad. When I try to open the PowerPoint presentation (I sent it to my Yahoo! account on iPad; then tried to open the 25.8 MB PowerPoint attachment / document), I get an iPad Error Message: "This Attachment is Too Large to be Opened".

I am curious if this can be corrected and what the MB size limit is to view documents / presentations on iPad?

Thanks!

Ken

It doesn't make any difference what size it is, you can't open a PowerPoint presentation without having an app capable of viewing it. Keynote is one such app, but be aware that once you load a PowerPoint into Keynote, if you make any changes to it, you will not be able to get it transferred back as a PowerPoint. Another app that will allow you to view and edit PowerPoints but also transfer them back as a PowerPoint is Documents To Go.

The tech specs for the iPad says:
Mail attachment support
Viewable document types: .jpg, .tiff, .gif (images); .doc and .docx (Microsoft Word); .htm and .html (web pages); .key (Keynote); .numbers (Numbers); .pages (Pages); .pdf (Preview and Adobe Acrobat); .ppt and .pptx (Microsoft PowerPoint); .txt (text); .rtf (rich text format); .vcf (contact information); .xls and .xlsx (Microsoft Excel)

Thus, no additional apps are needed to open Power Point (.ppt) attachments. However, I suspect the 28 MB Power Point is too large.

Well, there are some 3rd party Office Suite apps (Documents to Go, Quick Office) that allow you to edit Power Point docs, and therefore view them - but there's no guarantee you'll be able to listen to sounds or see animations in those either. Presentation Software does not easily convert to other formats if the documents have lots of bells and whistles in them.
