app store keeps asking for icloud password

Happened to me today. After googling and trying everything from articles and threads everywhere (including suggestions here) I was looking for a way to contact support and instead I happened to find the solution.

open app store

>click profile circle top right

>scroll alllll the way down to “sign out”

>follow prompts to log back in

Finally I figured this out. I was having the same problem with it not letting me download apps, I would put my password in and it would keep asking over and over. What fixed it for me, my payment method on iCloud was failing, even though the app was free. (Because I got rid of that whole bank account) All I had to do was remove that payment option from my iCloud. Fixed mine immediately after!

This problem was driving me insane! This fixed it though, so thank you so much!

I opened the app store on my phone and tapped the apps icon in the bottom menu bar. There are Today, Games, Apps, Arcade, and Search. When I tapped on apps, the profile icon in the upper right corner was a gray person and not my profile picture. I tapped on the gray person icon and it gave me an option to sign in. I signed in with my apple ID and then searched for an app I wanted to install. I tapped Get and it asked me for my apple ID again. It started the download, but instead of stopping and asking for my password again, it kept downloading. I still can't figure out why it won't use face recognition when I have that selected in settings.

Figured out how to stop it from asking over and over. Go to app store, choose apps from the bottom menu bar, and login. It still asks for the password instead of using face recognition but at least I can download an app now. idk why it won't use face recognition... I have it set up for the app store.

Try a different wifi network; office, library, coffee shop.

Didn't work. I've double checked the settings and I'm set for face recognition.

I have this problem too. I was finally able to download the free app. But the App Store asked for my password instead of using Touch ID.

I was able to resolve this be following this recommendation, but also had to turn off my device before logging back into the App Store.
