I'll like to see the markup (annotations) I made in a pdf.
I've made notes in a user manual that is a PDF. I made the annotations in Preview. The company has updated the manual and I'd like to copy over any notes I've made. It's a 500+ page manual so manual scanning is difficult at best.
Second question, although less important is is it possible to show the differences between the documents?

No. The annotation layer floats above the searchable text. However, if you open the Inspector (cmd+i) in Preview, the Annotations Inspector is the right-most toolbar item on that panel, and will list every Annotation in order as it occurs in the PDF. When you click on one of those Annotation Inspector entries, the associated Annotation will darken showing its selection.

Thank you. I can work with this. The links aren't mine, but the text box obviously is and I can scan down the list for them. And I can copy and paste from one to the other. Wouldn't want to do this for a lot of changes, but works fine for my case.
Copy and paste works in my case and puts the paste in the same place in the document. And since the document was unchanged on the pages I was concerned with, it went quickly.
I know that not every pdf is the same.
Timely, this announcement just showed up. I have Pixelmator, but haven't tried it yet.
Pixelmator Pro 3.5.8 has gone live on the Mac App Store, and the latest update to the popular image editing app brings the ability to edit text in PDFs
I would be surprised if you opened your annotated PDFs in Pixelmator if the annotations would also open in it as they are on a separate layer from the original PDF text. Even Firefox 124.* claims one can edit PDFs in it…

There is no means to copy annotations from one open PDF onto another open PDF using Preview. That means Notes too.
Is there a way to search the marked up document to see the annotations?
