Apple Watch Battery Draining suddenly after Software Update

My iPhone updated to IOS 17.4.1 last night and all of a sudden my Apple Watch is losing charge today after barely 4hours. I haven’t used it any differently to usual, haven’t actually updated the watch at all but am at a loss on what to do now. I’d love to roll back the IOS update if that’s possible and the culprit but surely Apple has some accountability to sort out the consequences of their software updates? All and any help is appreciated

Same issue. Watch was 100% at 7am, completely dead by 11.30am. Was chatting to Apple support to no avail. I explained it was only occurring after the update. Was told there was nothing wrong and asked was I suggesting there was a correlation between the update and the issue.

I had the same issue with an UW2. Tried everything. Software is totally up to date on all devices. What worked - seemingly for now - was putting the watch in low power mode for a few hours. I did it overnight. Drain totally stopped. Then I took it out of low or power mode and the battery seems to be operating normally. Hard to say why that would work, but maybe it will work for others.

I am having the same problem with the Apple Watch update 10.4 stalling at 2/3 through. I have tried deleting & starting over but to no avail. I am also having the problem of the battery drain on my watch. I am trying the work around that iTMOM608 suggested but haven’t tried starting back to updating the iOS. 10.4. I hope Apple sees these complaints & does something about them! If anyone finds a solution please post it & let me know.

@Kika_235 Are you using the same icloud account on your new phone? I am just curios, becase this is exactly happening to me as well, but for me on iphone 13 pro. I have bought 2 new watches as well to test with them, same happens with all of them. Doesn't hsppen, when the watches are paired to some other phones, we tried. Your example shows that the issue is on the phone somehow and not with the icloud then if you use the same account.

Jeff Donald, I have tried already all of these, even factory reset of my phone and no backup restore, just simply loggin in back to my apple id... and the same issue persisted with 4 different watches. At least in my case the issue is horrible, it's syncing soemthing from my icloud. I have an escalated case with Apple Support to the engineering team, and they responses after several diagnoses and loggin profiles that it's a known issue, they are working on it. But Goood, it has been 1 month ago...

Did someone update to 18 Beta on phone? Afterall I was like maybe they have fixed this on it, but unfortunatelly nothing changed :(

Same issues with me…after updating it to ios 10.5 my battery drains so fast even if i’m not using it..imagine that my battery health is at 100% till now…i’m working from home and barely use my apple watch..before it last for 2 days even if i’m using it but not it stays up to 1 day only..I hope that the new ios 11 can fix the battery issue.

I’ve received a message from apple support to do some tips so that I could fix the battery issue but nothing happens. They told me to first unpair the phone from my watch then restart both the device and watch. After that I pair it again and when I’ve noticed that its still draining my battery so I tried to reset my phone even if I don’t want to do it but in my mind maybe its my phone who has the problem with the connection of my apple watch but in the end its still the same problem. I might wait for the new IOS update and if still nothing happens I will gonna sell my watch/swap it to newer version cause I’ve been using an apple watch series 8 but the saddest part is the battery health is still at 100% cause I work from home for 5months now that’s why I haven’t use my watch often 😔
