External keyboard changing the number 0 to í

I got a new external non-apple branded keyboard and I have an issue with it. Whenever I press zero it's not zero it's í. I have a Hungarian layout, but my keyboard is English. Please help.

A keyboard without the extra key is not compatible with the Hungarian (QWERTZ) input source. Some possible fixes:

+Get a different keyboard which does have the extra key. This is normally called an ISO keyboard. The one you have now is called ANSI.

+Use the Hungarian Qwerty input source. It has zero on option of the key under ESC.

+Install a custom keyboard layout which puts zero on the key where you want it. Here is one. It has í on the option level of that key.

If you do have an ISO keyboard, then it's possible the machine for some reason thinks it is the wrong type. Here are some ideas for fixing that:

If none of that works, you may need to make a custom layout with

You have the wrong kind of keyboard for European languages. It should be the ISO type which has an extra key between Z and left shift.

The only easy way to make a zero with it is to set your Input Source to Hungarian Qwerty and then do ALT/Option with the key under ESC.

You need to make sure that Hungarian Qwerty is on the list at system settings > keyboard > text input > edit > input sources. If Hungarian is there, use the minus button to remove it.

Does your English external keyboard have an extra key between Z and left shift? That is necessary for the zero and í to be in the right place.

If your keyboard does not have that key, you should still find zero on the Option level of the key under ESC if you use the Hungarian QWERTY input source/keyboard layout.

If I have misread your post and your external keyboard is printed for Hungarian, let us know.

It's not "English", it's American. European English keyboards have the Extra key.

As I already said:

You should try that. If you don't understand part of the instructions, let us know.

Hello!

I have hungarian keyboard, but with the same problem. When I push 0 button it write í, and opposite. So I have all the letters, but it is confusing in usage.

Yes I have checked and set the type to ISO, and yes I have set up hungarian qwertz as it seems. Yes tried to reinstall the external keyboard.

So, do you have any usable ideas?

Thanks in advance!
