Cannot get completely rid of old primary line after switching provider.

iPhone 15 Pro Max. Ported phone number on old eSIM from old provider to new eSim on new provider. Have used multiple eSIMs before but there was only the one remaining before porting. Deleted old eSIM. Phone works fine on new eSIM. But. Even though the old eSIM is gone, its position as "primary" is somehow not available to the new eSIM. The new eSIM is in "secondary" position even though it is the only eSIM. The signal strength indicator just shows only the bottom line of four dots not just four ascending vertical bars. Under Settings/Cellular/eSIMs I have "Primary On" and below that "Used as "Primary" +1(613) 912-xxxx No SIM". Nothing happens when I tap this second line.

Some messages are not going through. Trying to change "Preferred line" gets the message "last used - "Primary" (unavailable)" and it does not allow the line to be changed.

Have rebooted, tried airplane mode on/off. Other suggestions for correction?

Windows, Windows 10

Make sure that mobile data is correctly “on” for your sole remaining line. (Settings -> Mobile [Cellular] -> Mobile Data.

Also, there is no actual “primary” or “secondary” line …

… those are just the default labels assigned in iOS, you can rename them to anything you like. (choosing either from the “dropdown” or choosing “Custom” for your own label)
