FaceTime volume inconsistent and often low

When I make FaceTime calls the people I’m speaking to’s volume is often so low they are inaudible. I want to be clear that this is specific to FaceTime, when I call people on WhatsApp, I don’t have the issue. My phone is at full volume and it’s not an issue with my speaker as the volume is fine with other video phone apps.

Volume lowers Automatically on FaceTime I have an issue that only occurs during a FaceTime call where my volume will lower itself when audio is played. For example, if I watch a video during the call it would lower them volume significantly and when turned back up to the original volume it lowers itself again. Another occurrence that it also does the same is if the person on the other end of the call starts to share their screen the volume goes down. I’ve looked up a few things about it such as the “Reduced loud sounds” settings (which is off) but had no luck. Maybe I’m missing something that someone could help me find the answer too or point me in the right direction.

FaceTime volume lowers when exit certain apps. I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max and an iPad Air 5th gen. While I am on FaceTime on either device, the volume of the FaceTime call goes down once I exit out of an app like Instagram, TikTok, and sometimes even games. It will only get loud again once I go back into a sound producing app. At first I thought it was my phone since is old but my iPad is new so I'm a bit confused.

Other Apps Audio Issue During FaceTime Call Sometimes when I’m on a FaceTime call with my boyfriend, I’ll usually turn to TikTok to keep myself busy while he’s taking care of something off camera. When scrolling through TikTok or I go on other apps while on the call, the volume automatically goes to full blast and I end up having to turn it down, but because I turn it down, I end up not hearing when my boyfriend calls out to me. I just recently upgraded my iPhone XS Max to the iPhone 14 Pro Max so there’s some getting used to the new changes. Is there a way I can turn down the volume on other apps and/or turn up the volume on FaceTime?

Try and restart the iPhone to see if the issues persist
