How to "lock in place" a table (or others object) in the text on Pages?

I think that you want to attach an object to a specific word or paragraph in the text. Am I right?

I find it best to click where I want the object to stay within the text, then press return to create a new paragraph to hold the object.

Here is some nonsense text. Suppose I want to attach an object to the text 'distinct.'

Click after 'distinct.' and press return twice

Insert the object. With the object selected, Arrange > Move with Text and Text Wrap Above and Below.

Now add more text above the object and it will flow with the text and remain attached to 'distinct.'

Is this what you want?

In Pages word processing layout, the only means to lock an object amidst text is with Object Placement set to Stay on Page, the object (e.g. table) set to a Text Wrap of (Above and Below) and then click the available Lock button on the Arrange panel. That defeats your goal of an object moving with text.

In Page Layout documents, all text must be in text boxes or some other object (for example, a Shape). When you convert from Page Layout to Word Processing, Numbers inserts a Document Body, but leaves existing text in their text boxes. To attach an object to text, the text must be in the Document Body, not in a text box.

On the Arrange panel, there are Object Placement and Text Wrap controls.
