Ethernet port interface with 10/100/1000 LAN is removed

The Ethernet option is not showing up in networks. And I tried to add the interface from the dropdown (... dropdown), but no interface with USB 10/100/1000 LAN is available. I also tried re-imaging, but with no luck. I remember the ethernet option being available some time ago; I might have deleted it accidentally. How can I get this option back to connect to the internet using an Ethernet cable?

Have you connected an Ethernet source? When I open my computer's dialogue box as in your example, I get the same list as you with the addition of an Ethernet connection listed under its product name, i. e., "Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet Controller". I don't remember if it was an option in the Network Settings before, because I just plugged it in and it worked. Which I believe means you don't have to add it ahead of time, though you can delete it or make changes once it is in the list.
