Macbook pro (M1, 2020) is disconnecting from wifi

My macbook has suddenly started disconnecting from wifi then reconnecting. It happens a few times a minute. It is not a problem with the wifi because my phone is fine. Thanks for your help. I'm running Sonoma.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 14.4

Hi, I have the same issue. Nothing seems to work and I'm getting a little over restarting my machine every time the wifi drops out (weekly). Did the Option/Wireless diagnostic and it tells me it's running normally. Updates are current, and phone etc are all working normally.

Any other good advice gratefully accepted..

update is the latest thats a ridiculous amount of work for an issue many other people are experiencing . my MacBook was a fresh install a few weeks back so id much rather apple just fixed what is clearly their issue not ours. just in writing this message my internet dropped out 4 times but my tv and phone and other devices on the network are all fine . its clearly a software issue which wasn't there before the latest update. when the wifi drops out it doesn't auto rejoin the network and the suggestion made by another user to hide network from trackers only doesn't resolve anything

I have performed a wireless diagnostics a multiple times. The issue persists. Also, after disconnecting the wifi symbol has an exclamation in it. Previously it was rare and irregular but recently it has started to bother me and happens every minute. Cannot stream anywhere for more than a minute. Is it for specific models or just on the update from Sonoma to Sequoia?

I've reset the router many many times , booted in safe mode , hidden the wifi from trackers only , cleared the temporary internet files and nothing changes . issue is the same with my partners m1 MacBook Air swell as soon as she updated to the latest software 14.4.1 . no issue with any other devices ( not Mac ) on the network

Troubleshooting Mac Wi-Fi:

Just because you have a network connected does not mean your are connected to the Internet. You may be using intenal LAN services.

A few thoughts to try...

I. Clear the Temporary Internet Files:

II. Restart your Router:

  1. Power: off the router
  2. Wait: 30 seconds
  3. Power: It back on

III. Boot in Safe Mode:

In Safe ModeLogin Items do not run at login, certain preferences are set aside, and damaged system files are then reset. So, once booted in to Safe Mode, wait 30 seconds, and then boot up normally, attempting another update install. For instructions, go here: How to Use safe Mode on your Mac - Apple Support

IV. Try a New Admin User:

What happens when you create a new administrator user, and log into it? Do you still get this error? If not, then it is likely an error with the current user. If so, then it is likely an error with your Mac.

Wireless diagnostics

Hold down the Option key while you click on the Wi-Fi icon on the menubar to open up the tools for investigating and fixing Wi-Fi issues

First is "Open Wireless diagnostics", which opens the wireless diagnostics Assistant, but does not proceed.

There are about eight different things you can do from here, but the top-level is to choose Diagnostics off the Window menu, or simply click continue, to do a quick check for Gross misconfiguration or operating problems. Your Admin password will be required. If any recommendations are shown, you should consider then seriously.

Next is to hold down the Option key and click the Wi-Fi icon as before. The screen that opens shows operating parameters of your network. Screenshot, transcribe, or photograph the results and post back in a reply on the forums. Looks like this older one.

Same issue here, MacBook Air M1, 2020, running Sequoia 15.3.1. All other devices, including older MacBooks are working fine. Also having issue on iPhone involving screen time settings not working. Every update seems to cause a new annoying problem with these new Apple devices.

Quick update... the wifi issue was just getting worse and all of a sudden I started not only getting consistent dropouts but then I started getting the same at home.

I finally had enough and wiped the macbook air M1 and reverted back to the previous OS, Sonoma... I can gladly say today I've had no issues either at work or at home with wifi dropout...

Therefore I can summarise that the issue was purely down to bugs with the new OS. I will no longer be the first of many to update to the latest OS as it just doesn't work at present with my macbook air M1. Well, not for me anyway.
