For the first-generation iPhone SE, iOS 15 is the end of the line. You can update that phone to the latest release of iOS 15 – currently iOS 15.8.2 – but not to iOS 16 or higher.

If you have an IPhone SE, iOS 17.0 is no longer available on that phone but if you upgraded to an IPhone 11 or above, those phones would have the capability for iOS 17.
