Set up siri (as prompted) following 17.4.1 update - now not working

as above - hadn't actually used siri before - set it up after the update as prompted. But doesn't work (voice / home button hold does nothing). It appears in apps, have tried turning listen for siri on/off etc + prefer spoken responses etc, restart - no success.
