Need to quickly convert 1,000 photos from live to still

I flew to a location for a week to take inventory photos and when I download them to my PC and then upload them to the cloud site they are unreadable because they are live photos. I do not use iCloud. Am I screwed? It will cost me thousands of dollars to fly back across the U.S. to do the whole thing all over.

Do the following:

#1 - export the originals of the live photos to a folder on the Desktop.

#2 - you'll get two files for each photo: a movie file and a jpeg file.

3 - Add the Kind column to the Finder folder and click on Kind.

4 - select all of the .mov files and move the the Trash bin.

5 - once the reimport is finished and verified you can delete the Live photos from the library.

5 - you'll be left with just the jpeg files which you can import back into the Photos library.

OR: you can export the library photos as jpegs with the following settings:

What kind of computer do you have? A Mac or a Windows PC?

When you take Live Photos, they will be downloaded as several files as Old Toad already described.

  • A still image, a high resolution photo that has been taken when you tapped the shutter button. This file is either in the HEIC format or a JPEG, depending on the Camera Setting. You just need to keep this still image.
  • You will also get an additional video clip with the animation effect, with the extension MOV or mp4. You can discard the video clips with the animation.
  • You may also have downloaded additional sidecar files AAE with filter effects. You can also ignore these.

Is the problem, that your computer cannot read the still images in HEIC format? Any Mac with macOS 10.13 High Sierra can read the HEIC files. The Preview.app can convert them to JPEGs. If you don't have a Mac you could use a third party app to convert the files, or use the online converter at ‎heictojpg.com

Hey! How are you doing? After searching for any kind of answers, I could not find one, meaning that you have to convert all of your Live Photos to Still Photos one-by-one. Meanwhile, can I know which PC do you use? To add, can I know which "location" you are talking about (which country/city)?

To remind, I never had any kind of issues while transferring photos just because of them being Live and not still.
