iPhone 15 cannot confirm with side button

I just upgraded to an iPhone 15, but cannot confirm payment with my side button. The side button confirm setting is on. The assistive touch setting is on, and confirm with assistive touch is on. It still won’t work. Any ideas? I never had an issue with my iPhone 12 confirming payments. I also don’t want the gray dot on my phone for assistive touch… is there a way to confirm payments without it? I did not have to have it on with any previous iPhones.

If you don't need assistive touch, turn it off --> Use AssistiveTouch on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Are you DOUBLE tapping the side power button to confirm to buy?

Yes. I’m double clicking exactly as I did with all previous iPhones. Just now having an issue since upgrading.
