Some of my folders on my Mac Book Pro have somehow been moved to iCloud without my knowing and seem to refuse my trying to move them back to my computer only. How can I move them and prevent them from being moved back to the cloud if I do not want that? How are the folders being moved to the cloud without my asking or permission? Thanks!

Not really sure what you mean. Anything in your icloud drive folder will sync with icloud. And, if desktop and documents is enabled, those locations will sync too. If you have optimize storage enabled, then files that are synced may move to icloud only status but only if space is needed on your Mac. Download again by selecting the cloud download icon.
