Fan runs loudly without stopping and drains battery rapidly.

I am using a Macbook pro (Core i5) with Sonoma 14.4.1. Recently, my fan has started running loudly. I thought it was OneDrive but when I look at CPU usage, nothing significant is taking place (sometimes OneDrive and Kernel but not often). As I type this, my fan is making a noise but my computer is 79% idling. Even when I close my computer and it goes to sleep, the fan continues sometimes. It uses up my battery within two hours if it is running and the only way I can make it stop is by turning the computer off. I have run diagnostics and nothing comes up and I've done a reset of the SMC and this did not help. Nothing seems to be working. The only time it does not run liudly is if I am not connected to the internet. Please can someone assist. I can't keep up with this short battery life.

Except for a few apps which I do not recognize, nothing really stands out although it is a bit unusual to see some of those apps showing startup options/flags.

The system load is a bit high and One Drive had the highest CPU utilization during the EtreCheck report. I do know that third party cloud file syncing services on macOS do contribute to higher CPU utilization & performance issues.

The worst thing I see is all those "ProxiedDevice-Bridge" error logs (238 + 62 = 300) which is related to the T2 Security Chip crashing which usually indicates a hardware issue with the Logic Board (unfortunately the Logic Boards on the 2018-2020 models seem to have a higher rate of failure than older models). You can try a DFU firmware Revive which resets the T2 security chip & system firmware....it should not affect the data, but you should make sure to have a good backup first just in case something goes wrong since a hardware failure could prevent the process from completing & leaving your data on the internal SSD inaccessible.

People should always have frequent and regular backups of their computer. There are a lot more new ways to permanently lose access to the data on the internal SSD with these newer Macs due to all the new hardware, software, and security changes.
