Files disappeared from folder in desktop

I filmed something the other day and imported the videos straight from the card, around 13gb. I dragged and dropped straight into a folder on my desktop, took a few minutes to upload. I edited the video together and when I went to go through the files again today for another purpose, all the footage is gone, the folder showing 0 bites. The card is already formatted so I lost all of the data. I can't find the footage in my computer from spotlight search.

My Premiere Pro is showing a path to my desktop of missing files. I viewed all the footage with the card out of my computer so it was in there.

Any ideas on what happened and if I can find the footage?
